In retelling this tale to others – even friends, I have run into a wall of denial from overly religious people who clearly demonstrate an inability to accept truths which differ from their children’s fairytale version of the world, and – this I find hard to believe – insist that such things (if true at all) are entirely the fault of the victims! Irritation – the feeling brought about when discussing supernatural events with small-minded people who cannot think past mental blocks rolled in the way by their religious beliefs and the assumption that people who perceive paranormal phenomena are satanists – or that possessing such skills is a manifestation of evil or an obsession with it.
